Intent, Implementation and Impact

Intent

At our school we want pupils to be enjoy technology responsibly. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in students' lives. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We recognise that the best prevention for a lot of issues we currently see with technology/social media is through education. Building knowledge in this subject will allow pupils to effectively demonstrate their learning through creative use of technology

Implementation

We utilise TeachComputing to support staff to best embed and cover every element of the computing curriculum. The knowledge/skills statements build year on year to deepen and challenge our learners. (see below for our curriculum coverage)

Impact

We encourage our children to enjoy and value the curriculum we deliver. We want learners to discuss, reflect and appreciate the impact computing has on their learning, development and well being. Finding the right balance with technology is key to an effective education and a healthy life-style. The way pupils showcase, share, celebrate and publish their work will best show the impact of our curriculum. We also look for evidence through reviewing pupil’s knowledge and skills digitally through tools like Google Drive, through assemblies, on Google Classroom, through pupil voice and observing learning. 

E-Safety Event 6th March 2024

Children from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed online safety workshops this week provided by Education Child Protection (ECP). The online safety workshops were age appropriate, engaging and informative for the children. We hope that the children came home and talked to you about what they have learnt in these workshops.

Parents and carers have received information about the parent and carer online safety workshop which can be accessed online until 31st March. 

School staff have also received training in this important area. 

Safer Internet Day 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday 7th February we will be joining schools and youth organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2023. Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to help to create a better internet.

Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in school, and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year.

We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre have created some free activities and information for parents and carers which are available at: www.saferinternet.org.uk/ SID-parents.

Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare, there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child.
